Sound Circles - Drum Circle Events for All Ages

From Activities Directors & Administrators of Elder Communities

We really enjoyed your program. The residents responded very well. Some of the residents that never stay for an entire program stayed. Also a couple of the residents that normally just watch participated in the program. The entire group was smiling and singing. It was one of the best programs we have had. We are looking forward to your return!

As an activity leader, I am always searching for new ways to liven up our program. Lansing brought out energy in our group I’ve never seen before  and also energized me as a leader!

I can’t say enough about the power of music and rhythm in the lives of our seniors. What I observed on that day was incredible. You presented an atmosphere where everyone could participate. We have several different levels of living here. It ranges from moderate dementia to being totally independent. Our residents experienced an atmosphere of being free to express one’s self without judgment from the other participants. This is the first time I can recall such an activity that has been able to do something so powerful. There were no barriers to someone expressing themselves with their instrument. I have noticed once an individual begins to decline in health those who are still “well” distance themselves from the person I believe it is out of fear and a look into what could happen to them. When this happens the relationship they once had with the individual slowly erodes away. With your rhythm exercise, I saw for the first time many of the residents addressing those who they have “lost touch” with over the years as a result of failing health.

A sampling of what
Sound Circles participants
are saying:

It was very enjoyable and definitely helped us bond more as a team. It was also beneficial to me as an individual.

It was a great way to get the group dynamics headed in the right direction. It was a great way to get the blood flowing!

How do I feel? I feel like bustin’ loose!

Lansing, you cultivated a risk-free atmosphere where freedom, self-expression and creativity were king. Bravo!

As a teambuilding exercise for our software development team, we got to know each other on a different level. It’s amazing what music/rhythm can bring out in people. I highly recommend this to groups of people who spend a significant amount of time together. It was a very satisfying experience.
